The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations of the nursing department to ensure high-quality care and manage a team of dedicated nurses and healthcare while driving excellence in clinical performance, patient outcomes, and staff engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the nursing department in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards if guidelines.
- Ensure the highest level of care and clinical outcomes for residents/patients.
- Develop implement and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate nursing staff; foster a positive and professional working environment.
- Monitor staffing levels and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and quality of care.
- Participate in budget development and monitor department expenditures.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and families to support holistic care planning.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to nursing staff, promoting professional development.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation and reporting of clinical activities.
- Prepare for and participate in regulatory surveys and audits.
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
- Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 3 years of leadership role.
- Knowledge of nursing practices, state/federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Strong leadership, Communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
